Packing for Camp:

There are no laundry facilities at the Eau Claire County Youth Camp, so pack enough clothing for two weeks.  It can be helpful to send a small amount of laundry detergent with your campers so they can hand wash smaller items.  There are clothes lines set up around each cabin.  In case there is an urgent laundy situation, our staff will launder items and will debit the cost on the camper's camp account.

Please be sure to bring:

-Suitcase with all of your clothes etc

-Sleeping bag/Pillow

-Money for the Camp Store

-Tennis Shoes and socks

-Rain Jacket

-Toiletries

-Health Forms

-Prescription medication only

Special clothes/items to consider bringing:

There will be occasions when you will want to wear a Norwegian costume if you have one, as well as other dressy outfits and funny costume-wear.

Parents, please take note…American books, candy, or music are not allowed to be used during the camp session.  These items will be held for you until camp is over.

Bring Norwegian Replacements!

Campers are encouraged to seek out Norsk replacements for music, magazines, and books if they feel inclined to do so.

Medical Health and Safety:

General health and safety for everyone at camp requires families to prepare their children for situations they may encounter while they are away from home.

Campers will be very active during these two weeks.  One of the most important items a child can bring are a good pair of tennis shoes.  They will be hiking, playing sports, and engaging in activities that will require them to have appropriate active footwear.  Also, if your child has any equipment that they must wear during sports activities, please send these items with them.

If your child is allergic to anything, has any medical issues that we need to be aware of, or has any special dietary needs, please indicate these items on the health form.

Please send a supply of basic toiletry items including soap, deoderant, shampoo, and feminine hygiene products (if applicable, even if you think they don't need them yet!)

If your child has any medications:

Please send a full 2-week supply of prescription medication with your camper and check in with the Health Aide upon arrival.  It is helpful to include a brief note detailing specific dosage requirements for our health staff.  Please note that it can be very difficult to fill prescriptions during the camp session.

It is not necessary to send over-the counter products for nausea, pain relief, cold and flu symptoms, allergies, etc. We keep an adequate supply of these items to provide to campers, as needed, as determined by our health professional.
